Time for a new blog, I'm going to start increasing my cardio massively and tone down the weight lifting so much, I need to maintain my lean body mass while I cut these last few lbs. Hopefully I'll be able to have a showing awesome 6 pack for my 40th May 1, 2008!
Let the party begin on Monday 11/5/2007

Re: 7 months to 40 - time to get a showing 6 pack!!!
Good luck on your 6-pack! You're so dedicated you'll have no problem meeting your goal!
Are you worried about loosing any of the muscle mass you've gained now that you'll be concentrating mainly on cardio? Is there anything special you'll be doing to prevent that?
Re: 7 months to 40 - time to get a showing 6 pack!!!
I'm still lifting just adding a bunch of cardio to my weight lifting.
Lunch:
M Back
Tu Chest
We Off
Th Legs
Fr Shoulders/Traps/Abs
Sat Biceps/Triceps
Su Off
After work I will be doing at least 3x a week 2 hours of steady state cardio on the exercise bike while son is at wrestling practice at ASU for Sunkist Kids wrestling club.
I'm also massively reducing my carbs to try and induce this last weight loss cut. I have a feeling I'm going to be very skinny looking at 8% BF but it will show me where I need to gain the most muscle afterwords.

Did 1 hour and 40 minutes on the exercise bike and then 10 or 15 minutes of ab exercises last night. Knees were a bit sore but nothing terrible. Today is chest for lunch!

Re: 7 months to 40 - time to get a showing 6 pack!!!
Chest on Tuesday went well, still dealing with tricep/shoulder pain so it took a few light sets of incline bench to warm up.
Working sets of 135x12, 175x6, 2 sets of 95x20
Incline dumbell fly 30x12, 40x6, 2 sets of 20x20
Cable x-over's 4 sets of 10x20
Not really sore from chest workout but I need my tricep to heal.
1 hour 40 minutes of bike on Tuesday night at wrestling practice - around 600 calories burned.
Did 45 minutes walking 500 calories - 2.74 miles during lunch on Wednesday and did 30 minutes on the bike last night, I wanted to do more but my sore bum wouldn't cooperate with me.
Today is leg day!

Mike I just have to say I really admire your dedication. Your doing just awesome! I dug out my pilates book and bands and I am going to try my best to get started with the streching again. I see the doctor friday so I have to get his approval first but I am praying he says its ok.

Re: 7 months to 40 - time to get a showing 6 pack!!!
I tore tendons in both shoulders and in my achilles tendon on my right foot. I've taken 3 months off but I've recently started lifting again but very lightly. I've maintained 230 to 235 the whole time with a decent diet and a few cheat days for special events.
I'll start updating this again soon.
Mike

Re: 7 months to 40 - time to get a showing 6 pack!!!
I tore the tendons either lifting or wrestling, the achilles tendon was doing an exercise called bound for distance where you do gigantic skipping motions. The Dr. told me that I will have the achilles tendon problem for life now. I can run/jump/sprint but the neck day it is sore and stiff.

Re: 7 months to 40 - time to get a showing 6 pack!!!
I'm BACK!!!
Went to Albuquerque for the weekend with the family for a national wrestling tournament. My son won the "heavyweight" 12 and under (he weighed in at 185lbs) and my daughter went 0-2 but learned quite a bit from the competition. It was a full cheat weekend and I weighed 243lbs Sunday night.
Chest yesterday, started light with 4 sets of 15 reps @135 lbs flat bench then 4x8@45lbs incline flies. Went for a jog with the dog for around 1.5 to 2 miles and did some shopping for a new dog harness and leash as my American Bulldog requires a ton of exercise every day. Yesterday I pretty much just had my breakfast shake of 50g protein, 1.5 cups of oatmeal, 3 tb of fiber and 2 tb of almond butter with 3 cups of water. I had some almonds and veggies yesterday for lunches/snacks and then some turkey breast and veggies for dinner. Woke up at 234.5lbs this morning. Hit the elliptical for 20 minutes while my son did intervals on the treadmill then went out to the garage for some wrestling practice for a few minutes.
I'll do legs after work tonight with my son - some squats and cleans and then I'll go jogging again while the family is at wrestling practice.
I FEEL GREAT!!!
