| 31 days until my deadline... Well I turn 40 May 1st and I still have 20lbs to go. I've decided to go on what's called the velocity diet. I'm going to do this for 30 days only and then back to my regular eating habits which was maintaining my weight of 230 to 235lbs depending on what was going on..
I've also had to massively change my workout routine due to injuries and the fact that I can't continue to lift heavy without doing damage to my tendons.
My diet is pretty much looking like this:
Morning - 46g whey protein, 24g of casein protein, 1 cup of oatmeal, 5 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of almond butter about 10g carbs and 2g fat
Mid morning/pre-workout - 46g whey protein drink and 2 servings non-fat cottage cheese
After workout - 46g protein/40g carbs which includes 25g sugar (insulin spike post workout)
Mid Afternoon - 2 servings non-fat cottage cheese
Dinner - 1 serving of meat - various and a large salad with vinegarette
Pre-bed - 24g casein protein in 4 cups water
I started last week on this diet and I've gone from 236 to 230lbs as of this morning. I now have 20lbs to go.
Yesterdays workout was:
135lb flat bench - 8 reps/8 sets 15 seconds rest
25lb incline fly's - 8 reps/8 sets 15 seconds rest
25lb weighed bench dips - 8 reps/8 sets 15 seconds rest
20lb decline dumbell hammer skull crushers - 8 reps/8 sets 15 seconds rest
Cardio - last night 1.5 hours of medium/low intensity on bike at wrestling practice.
Today is legs!!!

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... Well had to do a business lunch today so I had salmon fajitas with brocolli, squash, bell peppers and about 1/2 lb of salmon. I didn't eat anything but the meat & veggies and told them not to bring the rest. I'll have to do my leg workout tonight at home.

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... Had to skip legs and pack for our trip to Reno today. We're going to Reno Worlds for my son to compete in the 12 & under heavyweight (161 to 285) class. If he wins this he'll be ranked in the top 5 in the U.S.
229.5 this morning, I've hit the 220's and I plan on steamrolling through them into the 210's for the first time in 15+ years.

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... Sitting in Reno, so far I've been good to my reduced intake. Protein shake at the hotel room then 1 cup of oatmeal for breakfast. Just ate some lunch which was a big pile of romain lettuce and spinach leaves and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese along with about 6 oz of salmon. Yesterday I a protein shake for breakfast, nibbled on some jerky on the way up and then had a ceasars salad and some sashimi for dinner.
Son won his 1st match today at this tourny and is now in the top 6. If he wins his match tomorrow he'll be in the finals on Sunday.

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... Well we're wrestling for 6th place today in the finals, had a couple of tough matches yesterday that he lost. Alex turned 13 in December.
I had a protein shake in the morning then a couple of slices of whole wheat bread and some peanut butter around 1pm and then didn't eat again until around midnight which was cashew chicken w/o rice. We had a tough time with the losses but then went out and watched some MMA fights that were on last night.
I'll have a protein shake this morning, he wrestles between noon and 3pm then we'll drive to Vegas and stay with my Dad.

I weighed in at 229 this morning so I didn't gain or lose any while gone. Now it's time to continue losing, 19lbs to go!

Did well on my diet with just 50 to 75g protein shakes with fiber & 1tb of almond butter and cottage cheese yesterday.

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... Last night I did 45 minutes on the treadmill 4mph on the level 9 hills which is between 4 and 10 degree incline, I jogged the first 1/2, walked second 1/4 w/o holding onto anything then my legs were so weak I had to hold onto the handles to do the last 1/4. Took a shower then took dogs to the dog park. Dinner last night was a protein shake then after treadmill ate two roasted chicken thighs with skin, needed fat content.
This morning I was 226.0 before leaving the house. I did 16 minutes of 10mph sprint, 6mph jog intervals then did 15 minutes of live wrestling with my son. Since I had to skip Mon/Tue I will have to do 2xlifting today with shoulders at lunch and back after work. I'll do another 45 minutes to 1.5 hours of cardio tonight, maybe 2x trips up north mountain or something.
Allergies are killing me though, had to take a benadryl on the tongue last night due to such a bad reaction. It was tough running this morning as I still had the benadryl hangover...

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... Allergies/Sinuses hit me like a ton of bricks last night, I was feeling like crap so I bought some sizzling rice soup on the way home (chinese version of chicken noodle...) and then worked on a friends laptop for about 4 hours to fix it. I slept from midnight until 10:30 as I feel TERRIBLE and woke up at 227.5 even though I ate almost nothing yesterday, must be the white rice taking me out of ketosis and water weight. Today is a carb up day and I need to rest today/tomorrow to get better. I did a BF% and it says I'm at 19% so 10% looks to be around 202 right now so 25lbs to go!

btw, the fastest way to get rid of weight for me is to go backpacking with limited food supplies. carrying an 80 pound pack through the high sierras burns 4000+ a day with an 800-1000 cal. diet consiting of nuts, dried fruit, M'N's, and pasta.
i think i will do that again this summer. missed it last year.

| Re: 31 days until my deadline... OK after carb load I am up to 229.5 this morning. I skipped morning cardio as I am going to wrestling practice so I'll do 1.5 to 2 hours tonight. Lunch workout was:
8x8@140lbs flat bench press, 8x8@20lbs incline dumbell fly, 8x8@30lbs skull crusher on pulley station then 2x8@45lbs as I didn't feel much in my tri's. 4x8 bodyweight dips then 8x8@105 fly machine. I feel a good pump in chest/tri's!
