I wanted to do Atkins, because i realized that i was addicted to food, especially sugar, and wanted to kick it. I had done the atkins once before, like 6 years ago, and it helped me lose about 30 lbs, but of course, i gained that and more back. Today, while i did stick with the atkins, i decided that the best way to go is to make a lifetime change. This Atkins thing would just be a diet, and a temporary thing for me. it is way too hard to avoid carbs from my life. Instead, i've decided to go with just eating healthy and avoiding sugar. I made myself walk on the treadmill for 30 mins today. I thought i was going to have a heart attack. Because that was the most activity that i had done in so many years. I felt and still feel really good that i did it. I have struggled with my weight since i was a teenager, and i think its time to turn it all around. I think i will make this into a hobby, and take it in small steps. Will have realistic goals for myself. I hope that this forum, and all of you out there can help me achieve this goal for me. If i can lose 100 lbs, then that would be one of the greatest achievements in my life.... at this point in life, its not just about my physical appearances, or the psychological well being. ITs about being healthy for my kids. i want to live a healthy life to see that they are healthy and happy adults.

Quick is usually not the best way. Slow and steady wins the race!!! 100lbs is easily doable with persistence and commitment on your end. First time back into exercise is always the hardest, but I promise it will get better. Maybe take it a little easier and ease into it? You shouldn't feel like you're going to have a heart attack.

You seem motivated to do this and for all the right reasons. Good for you!

Cutting out the sugar will help a lot, as will the exercise. There are a few more things you can do to help your efforts as well, there are a ton of tips in the weight loss tips section of the messageboard.

Ideally you will want to create a calorie deficit for yourself, and the best way to figure that out is to count your calories and plan out your weightloss.
