Today, while i did stick with the atkins, i decided that the best way to go is to make a lifetime change. This Atkins thing would just be a diet, and a temporary thing for me. it is way too hard to avoid carbs from my life. Instead, i've decided to go with just eating healthy and avoiding sugar. I made myself walk on the treadmill for 30 mins today. I thought i was going to have a heart attack. Because that was the most activity that i had done in so many years. I felt and still feel really good that i did it. I have struggled with my weight since i was a teenager, and i think its time to turn it all around. I think i will make this into a hobby, and take it in small steps. Will have realistic goals for myself. I hope that this forum, and all of you out there can help me achieve this goal for me. If i can lose 100 lbs, then that would be one of the greatest achievements in my life.... at this point in life, its not just about my physical appearances, or the psychological well being. ITs about being healthy for my kids. i want to live a healthy life to see that they are healthy and happy adults. |
The most important thing that you said in that entire post was:
i decided that the best way to go is to make a lifetime change.
This is so true. I encorporate Atkins type meals into my eating habits but don't follow a strict atkins diet.
You are making these changes for all the right reasons too, and that should be motivation enough, however we are all here for you too! As painful as the exercise might have been you really need to keep that up, as it will make a big difference in your weight loss efforts, and your overall health and energy levels.
To further your weight loss efforts, remember, it's not just eating healthy but also that you are ensuring that you are consuming less calories than you use in a given day.
You can eat 3000 healthy calories a day, but if your body is only burning 2500 calories a day (even factoring in exercise), you won't drop the weight.
