I am all set to start the atkins tomorrow. I know it will be really hard, but i want to break my sugar addiction, and so this is the only thing i can think of. I need to just start it... and not think too much about it. i hate any kind of physical activity, so i'm not looking forward to doing any of that. i feel soooooooooooooo depressed... and physically so tired... |
First off, welcome!
Second, get the atkins book before trying to follow it. Some folks think that it is just eating meat, and there are other things to consider. There is a tougher "induction" phase to start with. How old are the kids? I would like you to try to think positive about the diet, make it into a hobby, and turn the weight loss into something that you can brag about. I am no expert, but when you say "I know it will be really hard", you are starting off picturing some grueling marathon, rather than a gentle paddling downstream in a river. Fast or slow, you will get there, without the pain. Now, I did set up a schedule that allowed for 1 pound lost per five days, and 500 days to do it in. You have to see the next year and a half in front of you as a guidepost like that. It took years to get 100 pounds on you, it won't disappear immediately.
Now, in terms of tired, and physical activity, you might be surprised that a good night's sleep will help you to lose weight. Less time to eat, and when you are more awake, simple physical activity is more attainable. (Picture trying to get up for school when you were a kid after having stayed up late the night before. Were you likely to be able to run to the bus?)
I am sorry that you are depressed about the weight gain, but picture how cool it will be for the kids when their mom is all "melted" before their eyes! They will think it is so cool.
One VERY strong suggestion I will make is to not eat their leftovers. I know from my experience that the couple of bites of PB & J, macaroni and cheese, or BK burgers would lead me to wanting more.
GOOD LUCK, and don't get depressed, because you are not alone!
