I've just started going to a new clinic, a bariactric physican and nurse specialists are "looking after" me. Basically it is a 1200 calorie diet...with as much exercise as I can muster per week. It isn't very controlled and it lets me be flexible with my eating.

Basically...(large inhale)...I want to lose about 100 lbs. I am completly ashamed of myself and I want to lose this weight once and for all. I know that 100 lbs seems...unattainable...but its all about continued motivation: getting into a good routine and keeping it. I don't want to be a supermodel, I just want to be able to live; understand? Live withour being so self-conscious.

I have a thyroid problem, or so my doctor says...I have no idea what that means and in all honesty it sounds like a crock to me...but, afterall...I am not a doctor.

What do you think? Is my goal too large? Basically for small goals...I do 10lbs each...all I can muster. I am almost at my first mini-goal and am happy about the changes I am making:

1. Much more water per day
2. No more night-time snacking (no carbs after 8:30)
3. About 2/3 less carbs in my diet
4. Better protein
5. Pretty much cut out all high-sugar products
6. Try to exercise 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes (cardio/aerobic/flexibility)

Being only 21 years old, I feel I have an advantage...it is easier for young, active people to lose weight...am I right?

I just don't want to put it off anymore.

What do you think???

You are very right being young and active makes it a lot easier to lose weight also it makes it easier to make life time changes. Because your not so set in your ways. It is also much better to start now before the long lasting health problems set in.
For example my daughter started gaining weight when she was around 14 by the time she was 16 she was very over weight. She got it in her mind one day she wasnt going to go this way started losing lost about 100lbs and has kept it off and she is now almost 20. She doesnt crave all the wrong foods anymore. We are very proud of her.
I have my goals set at about 25 lbs right now. But that is personal a choice.

From what you have up there it looks like your off to a very good start. You know what you need to do and we can help you through the bad times

As has been said we are really glad to have you here.
