My only comments (without reading everything) would be that some of these exercises seem like they could be extremely difficult for a very heavy person to do (think morbidly obese). From listening to people here and elsewhere, I would think that those experiencing pain currently should see a doctor to get clearance to do these exercises.
Steve, as always, thanks for the incredible input. |
Yea, on the other forum I actually have that disclaimer in my sig, so I don't put it in my posts. ANYTIME ANYONE is adding some new stress to their usual lifestyle, they should see a doc to get some clearance. The problem is, many docs don't know right from wrong when it comes to exercise and dietary prescription. However, they can clear you of any obvious pathologies that could be contraindicated due to increased activity and resistance training.
Also, these exercises will NOT be for everyone. If you're cleared to attempt them, certainly try. WITH NO WEIGHT ON THE BAR. We are all born to execute these basic movement patterns.
With the morbidly obese, aside from the pathologies that may exist as stated from above, sometimes body girth plays a major role in mobility, balance, proprioception, etc. That's why there is no One Program that can be applied to everyone. Personalization is a must. And I state that above. This is simply one iteration of programming that has worked very well for many sub-classes of people.
I'm sure there will be some questions and comments and I certainly welcome them.
Thanks OD.
