Nothing worked.

I completly believe in the power of the mind...and I think I am finally ready to shed this extra weight.

Seeing as I have been on so many diets and fad diets and have popped so many diet pills (even prescribed by physicians), I realize that you can't cheat the system. Weightloss = hard work (diet plus exercise). It isn't more complicated than that.

However, I am one that needs a lot of support...and that is why I joined this forum. I've heard good things about all of you and I look forward to getting to know you all better.

In advance, I would like to thank any who pass their advice on to me. I need all the help I can get.

Thanks guys!

Hello Jules, let me be the first to give you a warm welcome! It's nice to know we have a good reputation going around!

You have it nailed on the head, a change in your diet and exercise. We sometimes refer to it as a lifestyle change because this is a long term committment.

At the end of the day what it is going to come down to for you is for you to set up a calorie deficit, i.e. consuming less calories than you burn in a given day. First step is to figure out approximately how many calories a day you will be burning, and then calculate how many caloried you need to consume on a daily basis to achieve your desired weight loss. Next you count the calories you eat on a daily basis, (some people like to set up their own meal plans ahead of time) to ensure you are eating the right amount of calories a day on average to achieve your desired weight loss.

The exercise will allow you to lose more weight while eating the same amount of food but will also help you preserve your muscle mass which can go bye bye during the weight loss process.
