I grew up poor, and to turn down free food was considered dumb. Now, I see the free food, and the only trick that comes to mind to keep it from my lips is saying that it's "leftovers". Any other suggestions to keep that food from being attractive? Just curious... |
I travel 100% for business, and all my meals are paid for when I travel. I can eat as much as I want when I want. I can't even begin to tell you how hard it is to pass that up! It just takes discipline, that's what I've learned. I also see free donuts/bagels every friday, and cake/ice cream during birthday parties at my clients' offices and my own office. Even at BBQs, friend's parties, etc, I hold back.
There's going to be opportunities at every turn in life to partake in things you know aren't good for you. The question is, do you have the will power to pass them up? I bet for some things the answer is yes, while others are a bit harder. I find that once you force yourself to pass on the bad things a few times, it gets easier and easier each time after. Be firm for a while with your free food, and over time it will be easier to pass up.
