Interesterified fat: Trans fat's twin brother.

Interesterified fat: Trans fat's twin brother.

Little do many know, is that while restaurants and food makers are banning trans fats left and right, they are being replaced with a type of fat called Interesterified fats that really are not much better. Per a Brandeis University study, those who at these fats experienced a very noticeable drop in HDL (good cholesterol) and a 20% jump in blood sugar. And luck for us both of these contribute to an increase in heart disease risk!

If you want to keep an eye out for these fats, read the ingredient labels please!!! Looking for the phrase "interesterified soybean oil or the term "stearate-rich."
