Obesity increase in America
According to the results of a new survey in the United States, Americans are getting fatter at an alarming rate.

Americans who are at least 45 kilograms overweight are the fastest growing group of overweight people in the US.

The study has been carried out by The Rand Corporation, a non-for-profit research institute. It found that three per cent of Americans are severely obese and the proportion of people in this category was 50 per cent higher in 2005 than it had been in the year 2000.

This is despite increased public awareness about the risks of obesity and a new wave of people seeking weight loss surgical procedures.
