Thanks both for the welcome and the pointers. I think perhaps the most effective motivator would be to hunt out some 'old me' pics and put them strategically near any place that contains food. As lame as it sounds (and doubtless looks, or would look if anyone else was around) I've managed to tone my arms a little using a thighmaster I found in my parent's attic. But I agree weights would be a better way to go. I'm going back this week so I'll try and hunt out some dumbbells - the thighmasters a bit duff and if I actually try and use it for my thighs it inevitably catapults across the room. Right now I've gotten rid of that pillowcase effect I had with my upper arms but there's still plenty of room for improvement. I think also if I start walking into town and back again (rather than take the bus one way) it'd come to about a 3 mile round trip. I'm on a break for the next few weeks so will have more free time.
