Thumbs up Parenting and childhood obesity

The only way that a parent can truly help their obese child eat in a healthy manner is to do so by example. The entire family should eat the same foods at the same time. It is important not to make the overweight child feel more different than he already does. If the parent doesn't take charge, and encourage by example, then the child will feel isolated and less likely to cooperate in adapting to a healthy way of eating. The earlier a parent tackles the issue, the better.
