Obesity levels worse than first thought

Obesity levels worse than first thought in Australia

A study by Adelaide University has found that the level of obesity in Australia may be far worse than first though because people lie about their weight.

15 hundred people were questioned in the study by phone and then followed up with physical tests.

The results showed that most of them underestimated their weight by two kilograms.

The study was headed by Associate Professor Anne Taylor who said there were similar results in reporting height.

She says with regard to weight people tended to round down the figure while they rounded up their height. With self-reported data the main source of information for health planners, experts say misinformation is causing problems
