VLCC celebrates Anti-Obesity Day

Ludhiana, November 26: With an aim to promote healthy living and to make India an ‘obesity free country’, VLCC celebrated “Anti-Obesity day” today at Sarabha Nagar.
The event was launched by Dr Rajinder Kaur, Director Health, Punjab.Stating that the tendency to put on weight was very common in Punjab, she said that that atleast 50 per cent of men and 62 per cent of women have a paunch.
She further added that the problem of obesity was rapidly increasing which in the long term could lead to health problems like hypertension, arthritis and back problem among others.
She also stated that 47 per cent of the urban population was obese as compared to around 33 per cent in the rural areas.
In addition, a checkup camp was also organised by Dr.Gaurav Sachdeva, MD Medicine, Medicity Hospital.
