Obesity world's biggest health problem

Obesity world's biggest health problem

The 10th International Conference in Obesity in Sydney, Australia just wrapped up. The topic? How Obesity is the world's biggest health issue. Everyone concurred that there must be changes made before things get any worse.

Genetics were believed to have possibly played a factor in the obesity epidemic. A gene known as MCR4 could be responsible for causing obesity 1% of those dealing with obesity. This however was not something to blame due to its rarity.

Sugars oils and fatty foods are one of the biggest culprits. Government subsidies of not so healthy foods, making them cheap and easily available are not helping isseus.

Then there's the catch 22, faulting obese people for their health issues is can make for a denial in coverage and treatments that could help their health issues or obesity. At the end of the day it really is as simply as consuming fewer calories and being more active physically.
