I have been overweight for most of my adult life but have always maintained the same overall weight. I used to have a highly active job but our workload has decreased by so much the last 8 months that during our down time we eat, and sit, and eat and sit. I just can't seem to get motivated to get active and adjust my eating habits. I am at a total loss. I have gained 25 pounds since the holidays with no end in sight. I will read through the board to see what I can use for myself and my family. I want to be healthy for my son as well as myself. Thanks for listening.

Welcome Philly! You came to the right place

Sorry to hear about the slowdown with work, that's always a tough situation. I'm in a semi-similar position of trying to stay healthy, because I travel every week for my job, work long hours, and am forced to eat out for every meal (which is very unhealthy).

It was extremely difficult at first for me to stay healthy, and I have to force myself to do so by ordering healthy , carrying protein bars for snacks, and going to the gym whenever I have a spare moment, etc. It was hard at first, but once I got started doing it, it wasn't so bad, and I'm so used to it right now it's not even a hassle. There's actually some good tasting healthy food you can buy, it just takes a little looking

You've taken an important first step by looking to do something positive for both you and your son. Feel free to ask any questions that are on your mind; we're all here to help one another

We have an excellent Parenting section that has plenty of tips on keeping your kids healthy through proper eating and exercise.

I think one of the first things you should do for yourself is hammer out some goals of exactly what you would like to accomplish. Did you have any specific goals in mind for your or your son?
