Re: Kids measured for obesity in Australia

Here's a letter from a parent on this issue....

Obesity: Hit the parents
THE plan to weigh and measure children at school as part of the war against obesity will merely place more pressure on kids.

Is it right to measure and weigh children so that the kids who are a bit bigger can be singled out for more torment?

Don’t get me wrong, childhood obesity is a problem and we need to address it, but let’s address the cause not the kids.

Schools are implementing programs to get the kids more active but the schools are not parents.

Let’s try something controversial. Don’t target the kids.

Let the kids be kids and let’s make the parents be parents.
