A new program aims to fight childhood obesity.
The Hamilton County Parks and Recreation department brought their Mov-Fit-Kidz program to campers at Spring Creek Elementary School today.
It's part of Mayor CLaude Ramsey's Step-One health initiative.
Mov-Fit-Kidz shows children how to have fun while staying active.
It turns simple exercises and stretches into a game.
Coordinators hope the children bring the fun back to their family.
"We really encourage the children to go home, speak to their parents about getting the family as a whole to do more moving- even if it's just taking a five minute walk with the family or going swimming or working in the garden- whatever it is to keep them moving," says programming specialist Maureen Davis.
More than 700 Hamilton County campers have taken part in Mov-Fit-Kidz.
