But I made a list of foods that I like, and then extracted the ones that were high in protein and low in fat. The list of healthy things that I liked was limited, so I expanded on them. For example; I love chicken, which I pretty much eat every night (I mix in fish and pork once and a while), so I just found 5 different ways to marinate it (not using oils, butter, or cheeses) to keep myself from getting completely bored. Hope this helps! I'm just a beginner, so this is a learning process for me as well.
The struggles I am having is boredom with the Elliptical (so I put it in front of my TV), and the fact that I used food as a way to cope with stress. I get really hungry from the time I eat dinner to the time I go to sleep (1-3 AM due to work). I make sure I eat a dinner high in protein so it last long as possible (not enough though). Any suggestions for these struggles? |
Thanks for the advice on the menus. I love basically any meat and I can tolerate most veggies. I usually bake the chicken (I have a great chicken with rice recipe) and then dip it in mashed potatoes (small portions of course). One thing I also do with chicken is marinate it in a rosemary vinegar that I make. It really gives it a nice flavor. What I do when I work out, either on the Total Gym or my NordicTrak is I listen to my iPod. I put on some Hard Rock and any other type of music that has a fast beat. It's not that big of a problem when I'm on the TotalGym, but when I'm on the NordicTrak...yeah, it's BORING! I find my imagination starts to run away with me. So, the music helps. As for the munchies, I usually eat some pistachios or some smoked almonds. Working on my memory, I believe that 20-25 of them is equal to 170 calories and on top of that they're good for you. Or, you can try some very tasty celery (yum). Although I have to put peanutbutter on it, so that kind of defeats the purpose. Popcorn might help. Thats what I use for a mid-day snack. A whole bag is about 220 calories and it lasts a long time. If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know. Have a great evening.
