Chrisy seems to have covered everything, but I thought I could add a bit. I'm 20, also about 40 lb overweight, have 4 superskinny sisters, and dont want them to know that i'm trying to lose weight.

Instead of going on a "diet" you might want to try eating what you normally would if you were attempting to maintain your goal weight. You'll still be eating a lot less than now, but no one around you would notice because you are eating no less than they are. After a while you can reduce your calorie intake even more.

20 lb in 2 months is totally doable, especially for a guy. 40 is not so easy, and I highly suggest that you dont attempt to do it.
