Phynova applies for patents for Chinese herb drugs for obesity, hepatitis C

LONDON (AFX) - Phynova Group PLC, which develops pharmaceuticals from Chinese medicines, said it has filed patent applications for its PYN-22 drug for obesity and its PYN-18 drug for hepatitis C.

And it said it has signed a letter of intent with a clinical research organisation to start Phase IIb trials of its lead development product, PYN-17 for hepatitis C.

Chief executive Robert Miller said the company has also strengthened its management team by appointing Stephen Marshall as chief operating officer and David Galloway as chief medical officer.
