| Re: A glass of water 10 minutes before the meal Go ahead and drink 16oz of ice cold water and it'll also bump your metabolism. Remember that it takes about 10 to 15 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain WHOA! for the food so that's why people eat until full then realize (painfully so) that they're over full. My oldest son is a ravenous eater and to help him understand this when he was younger and would ask for 2nd or 3rds that he wait 10 minutes between helpings. Every time he would not want any more after 10 minutes.
