| Re: My weight loss group I'm not sure if the protein shakes would be considered a meal replacement for me, but I don't use any of their pills. My MIL bought some of their pills called "snack attack" that is supposed to take away cravings, but she says they haven't helped much. Main ingedient is calcium, not sure how that would curb an appitite. Anyway, I picked up an interesting book at the library yesterday called "The New Rules of Lifting for Women". It advocates more intense workouts every other day using a lot heavier weights than women usually do. I have been hitting the treadmill doing about 4 miles a day and now I've gotten to the point where it's not enough to make me sweat and get my heart rate up enough. I tried doing some interval training today on the treadmill. I walked 3.8 mph for 2 minutes then I kicked it up to 5 mph for one minute then back to 3.8 for two minutes for a mile. Then I did some weight lifting as the book suggested ,then I walked for a 1/2 a mile @ 4 mph. I felt like I really got worked out like I did when I first started exercising. I used the protein shakes twice today b/c I think my body needs the extra protein. The main gist of the book is that its not the workout but the recovery from the workout that increases stamina, weight loss and good muscle tone by increasing your resting metabolism. If any of you have any advice or experience on working out I'd be glad to hear it - Laurie
