Hi! I'm a 43 years old, and live in Arizona. I'm 5'5" and 213 pounds. I'm a software consultant and do a lot of travelling, which is one of my primary excuses for not eating well

For years I've been in denial about my weight, thinking that I didn't look so bad and that my health was just fine. Well, since I've been in my 40s the house of cards has come crashing down. My blood pressure is a bit higher than normal. On my last blood test, my fasting blood sugar reading came back at 100 - just above the normal range. My body fat percentage is embarrassingly high. So, silly as it sounds, I'm just starting to come to grips with the fact that I'm "obese" and that I need to take this seriously for the sake of my health.
This forum looks like a great resource for information and encouragement. I'm eager to learn as much as I can to lose this weight in a safe and permanent manner.
