I wanted to give a big shout out and Hello to everyone, your stories are so inspiring and I wanted to ask you all a question; Do you think counselling has any benefits to aiding your weight loss. Oprah seems convinced that over eating is a cry for help but I don't have a dark traumatic past! I just weigh 280 Lbs!
The killer is in 2006 I lost 98 Lbs but couldn't maintain it and piled EVERY Lb back on!!! It is soul destroying cause it gave me a glimpse of the person I really want to be.
I lost it through a total meal replacement diet - it didn't teach me to be disciplined with my food so it was so quick to come back on!!
Lookimg forward to meeting you all |
So glad you decided to join us. Our members are so caring and helpful, yet they tell it like it is when they need to. As for the Oprah thing with counseling, I guess it would be helpful for some people, but not necessary for others. If you truly haven't had any major trauma in your life, I'd skip it. Instead, maybe seeing a nutritionist, or a weight loss Doctor, or joining a gym/health club would be beneficial. I have come to the conclusion that losing weight has to be something that you want more than you want to eat. Since losing weight is a long slow process, if it is done correctly, it has to be the main goal in your life for a while so you can really concentrate on "NOT" dieting, but changing your lifestyle. Then it will be more likely that your weight loss will be permanent. You sound like you are really ready to make this change. You can do it. Pick an eating plan, exercise and start the first day of the rest of your life with a smile. It will be soooo worth it! I can't wait to read about your success along the way.
