You didn't say how tall you are so no way to know how realistic your goals are...To go below 1200 calories a day sounds a little drastic. How many calories would you be able to maintain the weight you want to be? And is that realistic?
I am only 5'0" tall, but at 68 years old carry more weight than I did at 18 to 25 so I think also has to do with age how much a person can lose. The older I get, the harder it is to lose weight and also to keep it off.
