| I'm pulling myself off of Creatine. After being on a Creatine supplement for nearly a month, I've now decided to cease usage.
For only having recently started working out again (which might be a plausible explanation), I did observe a pretty rapid increase in strength and what looked to be increase in muscle. However, I've also observed quite a few negative effects as well.
Having sensitive skin like I do makes me extremely prone to acne. Since I started usage of the Creatine supplement (about a month ago) my acne has progressively gotten worse, to the point of being ludicrous (in my opinion). [Mind you, I abide by a decent diet to where acne should not be an issue] After doing a little research, I found several people had acne break-outs shortly after being on Creatine. Supposedly (this didn't come from a credible source, so don't quote me) Creatine can raise androgen levels such as Testosterone, posing an even larger acne problem for someone such as myself.
Along with the possible correlation between acne and Creatine, I've also become exhausted of having constant dry-mouth (especially while trying to sleep) and cramps. My levels of anxiety appear to be much higher as well.
This is just my first-hand experience, so try not to base my epidemic on whether or not a Creatine supplement (or any supplement for that matter) is right for you. I am going to continue my protein/meal replacement shakes, however.
As associated with any performance-enhancing (including weight loss) supplement, be sure to consult a physician before conducting any type of usage.
I hope this will pose useful to those who are trying to make strength gains, while rapidly cutting fat. Anyone have feedback on Creatine usage?
- Dustin
