Like "Been there" I also lifted weights before and after surgery. I was using the treadmill etc about two weeks after surgery. But lifting weights and doing sit-ups etc took about 4 -5 weeks. I probably could have pushed it earlier. But i thought to myself this is longterm thing. I need to able to lift weights from now on. So another week or two didnt matter to me.
