I have seen this study quoted multiple times by anti-WLS fanatics. They use it to support their argument that WLS is evil and should never be considered under any circumstance. There is a large (no pun intended) sector of the large-sized community who refuse to see that WLS can be an effective tool.

And while the study does illuminate the risks, I think it has to be taken in context. ALL surgery carries some kind of risk. How many studies are out there on the potential risks of say a hysterectomy or a gall bladder removal?

Not sure where I was going...I had a point when I started this post, but I got a phone call and lost my train of thought.
