The other hall sounds like a win win option...more exercise walking there and better food! As far as the calories go, in order to achieve that type of deficit each day you'd need to figure out how many calories a day your body burns given your current activity levels, and then if you want, you can try to adjust the calories you consume each day so you achieve those deficits.
