Hi, new here

Hi everyone,

I’m new here, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I am a 5’ 2” female and weigh approximately 175 pounds. I’m a senior in college, and my goal is to lose a significant amount of weight by my graduation in mid May. I want to look good for graduation and then hopefully start the next phase of my life with healthier habits and more confidence. I would love to be 135, but I am shooting for 145 by graduation because I think that is more realistic.

I think I’ve been in denial for a long time about how much weight I’ve gained in college. I have been overweight since I was 9 or 10, and by the end of high school I was around 148. I knew I had gained in the last few years, but I had convinced myself that I was still only around 160, my previous high. I’m home on break now, and weighing myself was a wake-up call because I have never been this heavy before.

My college has a great fitness facility, and I really want to take full advantage of it while I have the opportunity. They also offer some free workout classes that I plan to attend. I went to a twice-a-week abs class last spring semester, which was great, but unfortunately I didn’t stick with it (and neither did most people, judging from the shrinking size of the class each session). I’m going to do that again, and hopefully stick with it this time.

The eating right part of this may be tougher because I’m at the mercy of my meal plan, and the dining halls tend to serve a lot of fried and fatty foods. I’m going to try to stick to the healthier options and eat smaller portions.

I’m hoping that posting to this board will help me stick to my goals and that talking to you all will help keep me motivated.

I look forward to talking with you all.
