| Re: Audrey's New Years Blog I think I'm finally getting the hang of hiit.
I don't think I was giving myself enough recovery time in between my intervals, so I'd get exhausted, and work really hard, but couldn't do many intervals.
Today I did:
30 seconds jog @ 6.0 mph
30 seconds run @ 8.5 mph
30 seconds jog @ 6.0 mph
1 minute power-walk @ 4.0 mph
Lather, rinse repeat.
I was able to do more intervals than I ever have before, and instead of taking a breather afterwards and feeling like I could do it all over again, I'm now still feeling the effects over 2 hours later.
I've been reading more and more about hiit and a lot of info says that you're supposed to feel completely drained afterwards, and then your metabolism will increase throughout the rest of the day because your body is trying to recover from the ass-kicking you gave it. You're supposed to use more oxygen because of EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption).
I think I've got a friend of mine hooked on it too. We went to the gym together on Sunday and she seemed really interested in it. I think like me she was looking for something different and interesting to do at the gym.
