Red face Hello Everyone!

I've been reading this website for a couple of days and decided to finally join!

My name is Susan. I am 40 years old. I am a diabetic. This past Jan. I spoke to my Dr about weight loss. I just felt awful. She suggested I try whole foods.. and cut out the whites (rice potatoes sugar etc) she also told me to slowly lower my caloric intake and I did that from Jan to March and I lost 30lbs just doing that!
In March I had a toe removed due to my diabetes. Man what a wake up call that was! While in the hospital for 12 days the diabetic nurse came to see me a few times and educated me on the diabetic exchange diet. I limit my carb intake to less than 60grams per meal (I now try to keep it below 30 grams per meal) and I limit my portions and eat ever 5 to 6 hours to keep my blood sugar stable.. and to keep me from getting too hungry so I don't over eat at the next meal.

Altogether I have lost 80lbs since Jan! I don't have a scale I home. I only weigh myself at the Dr's office. That way I don't worry and fret over my weight weekly or daily like I know I would do. My next weigh-in is sometime in Feb.

I recently decided I wasn't on a DIET but a new way of living/eating a new lifestyle change. I was tested back in August if my food addiction was good, and I'm pretty sure it is.
In August My partner of 17 years left me (he didn't like me losing weight and our relationship was rather stale) my Mom died 2 weeks after that and I moved just before she died. I was in stress H*LL! Not once did I faulter off my new way of eating! In the past I would have run to the fridge and dove into it and not come out until I felt better or all the food was gone

It's great to see food as something to help you live, not something you live for now.

Thanks for reading all this.
I can't wait to get to know each and everyone of you!
