Phentermine is an appetite suppressant. Like any appetite suppressant, it should in theory reduce your cravings to eat, and if you're eating less calories, then it should reduce the speed of your weight gain, or possibly help you lose. What causes you to lose weight is when you eat less calories on average than your body uses for energy. Phentermine doesn't directly burn fat, it just helps you eat less calories, which in turn CAN lead to fat loss, but only if you're eating less calories than your body burns as I mentioned above.

Some people have reported success, while others have not. I've seen it as a mixed bag.
