1200 doesn't seem like enough to me, especially for a guy who's working out. Your body may be not getting enough calories and is storing everything it can, thus no weight loss.
I, as a 5'6 female @135 lbs burn about 1450 a day without exercise. I bet you burn at
least 500 calories more per day.
Try using a BMR calculator to see how much your body burns a day without exercise. I like this one:

I can understand not wanting to tell everyone you're on a diet. I'm a firm believer that diets don't work, only lifestyle changes do. You may loose all the weight you want on a diet, but you won't keep it off unless you continue the healthy eating and exercise. When people would comment to me about not eating a certain thing, instead of saying I was on a diet, or trying to loose weight, I'd always say "I'm trying to eat healthier". I don't know if that would work for you as well.
The biggest thing I've had people comment to me about is that I don't drink anymore. I always say "Well, it's expensive", which seems to satisfy people, and I don't have to say that the real reason I don't anymore is because it was reeking havoc on my weight loss attempts
We all slip up with the healthy eating. If I slip up, I try to work a little harder at the gym the next day, but don't beat yourself up about it. Just don't write the day off, get back on the horse ASAP
