Wisconsin is taking new steps to help fight obesity in the Badger State.
Two thirds of Wisconsin adults are overweight or obese, and one quarter of high schoolers are either overweight or at risk for obesity.
To help fight the problem, the state has created the Wisconsin Nutrition and Physical Activity State Plan.
Helene Nelson, Dept. of Health and Family Services says it is the framework to help combat the problem of obesity in the state.
"This plan is for many organizations, communities, businesses, churches, local and state government, as well as individuals to work together to encourage everyone in our state to adopt a healthy lifestyle."
The new program was developed thanks to a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and will be implemented through local coalitions focusing on healthy lifestyles.
