Obesity raises the levels of estrogen, and other hormones which in women increases the chances of getting breast cancer. Obese men are more likely to get colon cancer. Kidney cancer risk increases as do the risks of getting even rarer cancers.
Now I have seen in another study that your overall chances of getting some form of cancer as a result of being obese are 50% higher that the chances of those who are not obese getting cancer. Food for thought. |
The last I'd heard, they hadn't completely linked them yet, but good to know.
My mom had breast cancer, (she is overweight and has been for 20+ years now), so I know that I have a hugely increased change of getting it as well just because it now runs in my family. That was one of my reasons to loose my weight and get in shape. I've seen what people go through with chemo treatments
