After surgery I spemt 10 days in the hospital- to return 21 days later for a 5 week stay. I had a lung absess, needed surgery to remove it and was on a vent for 2 weeks in the ICU. I lost half of my hair (since regrown).

I developed th stricture at the end of the new stomach. I have to get it stretched every few months. It caused reflux, vomiting and tooth loss. I now wear dentures. The reflux also caused adult onset asthma.

I have severe osteoporosis - despite the vitamins and calcium supplements And the usual treatments are contraindicated because of gastric size. I am supposed to get the shot BUT its $16,000 per year and my insurance, if I would be approved, has a $2,000 co-pay. It has attacked my spine and I have 4 areas in the spine with decalcification.

I have had several bouts with anemia. I had to have trnasfusions 4 times in the past years.

I still need some skin removed- not as much as one would think because I did exercise. That was key.

I wish someone would make an UNSWEET protein supplement.

I get livid with people who think this was the easy way to lose weight.
That is horrible! Which surgery did you have? I had the RNY in 2000
I went from 427 to around 270 then with mulitple deaths in the family the stess eating I wound back up to 330.
My galbladder was bad when I had my surgery and they left it I wound up with 4 seperate surgerys and almost died from that. I still have a big problem with some food. I still throw up sometimes also. I agree there is a ton of information that they dont tell you. Although I hear now you have to go through extensive counsiling before they will even give a person the surgery.
Which I know that I should have had first. People dont understand how hard it can be when you hide behind the fat and then its gone.
There is a lot to say for just change your diet and eat healthy instead of the suposed quick fix of the surgery which really isnt a quick fix at all.
My brother and both my sisters had the surgery also. My brother had the band and is his way back up the scales.
My sisters had the RNY one sister died of a massive heart attack 4 to 6 months after her surgery. My other sister is doing well. She went on to have a baby and weighes in about 180 or so and started over 300
