Re: Sauna belts

Back in the 70's there was a "TV documercial" for a sauna suit. It was a plastic contraption with wrist and ankle bands that sealed your body heat in and caused you to lose short term amounts of "weight" by fluid loss.
Of course being the tightwad that I am, I made my own sauna suit from two large plastic lawn/grass bags. I made holes for my arms and head from one, and made holes for my legs in another. I put this outfit on and covered it with a sweatshirt and sweat pants.
Then I got my 17 year old brother to play several sets of tennis with me on a summer day. I raised my core temperature to 1xx? and dumped probably a gallon or more of fluid, and during the match I had to punch a hole in the bottom of the torso bag to allow the fluid to leak out. By the time I realized I was in trouble, I was really in trouble.
I laid down (read passed out from heat stroke)on the tennis court, and my brother had to cut the outfit off of me with a Buck knife.
To passersby it must have looked like my brother had shot and killed a green buffalo and was in the process of skinning it.
I damn near died.
Gimmicks are not the way to lose weight.
